LATE COMMERCIAL
The maize market shows little life, reports the Auckland Sun. During last, week a few more, small parcels of 5s oil lots came to hand, some of which was turned over immediately at a loss to the sellers. An indication of the present weakness of the market can be taken from the fact that Auckland merchants are now able to get a small share of the business from the southern portion of the island. During the week small consignmtnts went to llawera and New, Plymouth, at a price based mi 5s Bd. f.0.r., Auckland. Nominally the price, for Gisborne maize remains in the vicinity of 5s 7d to 5s 8d on the Auckland wharf, blit isolated lots have been sold at- Id or so below those figures during the past day or so to clean up lines before the holidays. The Bay of Plenty price remains stationary around 5s 6d on the trucks, hut business - from those parts is more or less spasmodic end getting into a.- shorter compass.
