ACCIDENT WHILE SPEEDING
(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. “ This is another ease—they are all too frequent —of excessive speed leading to ail accident. This young man’s death was entirely due to tiie speed at which lie was travelling, and to his vision being affected by -the sun.” The foregoing comment was made by the coroner, Air. E. 1). Mosley, S.M., at the conclusion of an inquest into the death of George Jonathan Pine, a young motor-cyclist, who died after he collided with a motor-lorry on the Riecartoii road on June 25, after a collision with a motor-cycle. The petrol tank burst into llames and Pine suffered terrible injuries from burns, and also a fractured skull, as well as sustaining other severe hurts. Mr. Mosley added that Pine must have been travelling at 40 miles an hour at least.
