Messages.) r Two attempts to make easy money in Dunedin by a young Wellington motor driver, Albert Smelt, by forging cheques for £2O and £25 in the names of a school inspector and a hotelkeeper respectively, lerl tip his appearance in court. As a result oil a search of premises in Taranaki street yesterday, Ah Pong, 36, a Chinese, and Albert Edward Davis, 42, a plumber were charged with keeping a conirtion gaming house and being found there respectively. The police stated that the premises were used for the sale of pakapoo tickets, a quantity of which were seized. The Chinese was fined £4O, and Davis £2.
