SETTING FIRE TO A HUSBAND

PARIS, March 3. The Correctional Court here to-day acquitted a woman who was accused of attempting to burn • her husband to death by pouring alcohol over him and setting fire to his clothing. .The husband became like a torch, but was able to put out the flames and roll himself in blankets. He escaped more frightened than hurt. When asked why she set her husband on fire; the woman looked appealingly towards him and said: “My husband will tell you all about it.’’ Hesitating and embarrassed, the husband, a Pole, said he wanted to forget about the incident. Above all he did not want his wife, whom be loved as deeply as ever, to go to prison. He pleaded so touchingly for her that the presiding judge acquitted her, and the couple kissed affectionately in court arid left together arm in arm.
