AUSTRALIA’S BROWN COAL
COMPANY TO DISTIL OIL (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, Jan. 15., In continuation of Commander Brand’s 1023 investigations in respect of powdered fuel for the Australian navy, an English company, which owns largo deposits of brown coal at I Monvell, proposes to begin operations J this year, distilling oil from brown j coal, one ton of which, it is calculated, I will yield 15 gallons of oil. The rosi--1 due will be used for the manufacture r of briquettes, of which the calorific i value is said to bo equal to black coal, jlt will also be used in the form of ! powdered fuel for power purposes. I Mr Moore Brabazon has resigned tho | Parliamentary Secretaryship of the ! Ministry of Transport in order to bej come the chairman of the company.
