AUSTRALIAN CURRANTS
INCREASING DEMAND IN U.K. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, January 15. The feature of the dried fruit trade since the turn of the year has been the increasing demand for Australian currants. This is largely due to the firmness of the market in Greece, where the prices have been steadily rising. Greek shippers are asking 3s per ewl. above London spot quotations. Consequently buyers have turned their attention to Australian currants, and a large volume of business has been done at prices ranging from 34s to 425. Sultanas are only meeting with moderate inquiry at 56s to 745, but there are signs of the | demand improving.
