Wright, .Minister of Education, arrived last night ami was entertained at dinner by the Mayor and Council. | In a speech regarding education the Minister said that in certain directions lit might be as welt to overhaul and 'revise their methods. No matter how good the system it would do no harm to take stock occasionally, see how things were progressing, and make improvements if they could be made with out impairing the system. He strongly ! favored technical education, "but was"not [ in favor of following any particular lines j which were- not of practical benefit to the pupil. If they could help a boy to I become an efficient workman at his .future trade then they were justified in I pursuing instruction in that direction. : The question was how far technical 'training should go? Was it included in 'training for professions? He did not I think so. j The Minister visited the school this I morning and was entertained by the I citizens at luncheon at noon, leaving for j Napier later in the afternoon.
