UNUSUAL VISITOR

SEA-LION AT WAINUI Wainni beach residents were surprised this morning to sec a large sea-lion sunning itself on the reach, and evidently very much alive.' The unusual visitor did not resent dose scrutiny, and an interested crowd, most of whom had not previously seen a sea-lion, gathered round it. The mammal had apparently been attacked by some other denizen of the deep, for several small holes were) pierced in its sides, but it did not' seem to he disabled. Fearing that it might he killed, the srti-lion was chased back into the sea, but came out again further along the beach, and on being chased back again did not re-appear. A sea-lion was seen at Makarori beach ycisterday. and no doubt it was the same visitor which was seen at Wainni. It was a particularly fine specimen.
