more moisture in the ground for the young clover. Chiefly because of its lower percentage of hulls, barley is a better feed than oats for fattening hogs, sheep and cattle. Barley contains more carbohydrates than either wheat or oats. Barley straw is similar to wheat straw, and barley hay has more protein and less fibre than Timothy hay.
