A demonstration of a direction indicator for motor vehicles was witnessed to-day ",V the Mayor, Mr, ('!. Baildon, tlie chief traffic inspector, Mr. G. K. Hogan, and. 'Bub-Inspector Lewin, and Sergeant Caldwell, representing th* police. The device is a Now Zealand invention, and tile demonstration model is operating on a Corporation motor lorry. Tt consists of pivoted arms on each side of the bus, controlled from the driver's seat by a rack and pinion connection. A small electric lamp is incorporated hi each arm. By swinging the right or left arm the'driver indicates his' intention to turn.
