P.B. MEAT WORKS.
(To the Editor of (he Herald.) Sir,—ln yesterday's issue of your paper I notice Mr. David Jones (chairman of the Meal: Producers’ Board) on his return from Britain refers lo Mr. Lysnar and the attitude taken up by him in connection with the sale of tho Poverty Bay meat works. Mr. Jones says if Mr. Lysnar had nor withdrawn -his nomination, and had been elected as a representative of the producers, he could have made a request to he hated at the Board meeting. As one of the representatives of thn sheepfaimers from this district .1 fail to see what good l such a request would have he'll, as Die chairman of the Board meeting in Wellington, in his opening remarks referred to the sale of the Poverty Bay meat, works, but distinctly stated that the matter would’ not bu discussed by the Board ; an inquiry or commission was to bo held taler on. As there was no pressure of business it certainly showed weakness on Ihe Board’s part and I took an early opportunity of stressing the directors' and sharohnldtv.’s' indignation at the Board’s action i.n sanctioning the sale of the works without giving the directors an opportunity of being heard, and which I stated were not British ladies. To this nof a nnonher of the Board replied. Mr. Junes, in his letter.
says all were- vitally interested in the matter, and the Board’s annual meeting was essentially an ideal court to hear the charges; but it goes without saving that as the Board did not wish to discuss it, there would be no defence, and consequently no decision, and’ Mr. Lysnar has taken the only course open to him.—l tun, etc., J, Cl FIELD,
