NAVY LEAGUE ESSAYS.

The Palace Theatre was crowdod with juvenile members of the local branch of the Navy League yesterday afternoon, on the occasion of tho presentation of the prizes gained in connection with the recent essay competitions. Canon if, Packe, one of the vicepiesidcnts of the local branch, presided. He outlined tlie great Penefits of the Navy and the aims and object of the Navy League. Prior to the presentation ot the prizes, the secretary, Mr. F. J. Rowley, read t-ho remarks and criticisms of the judges of the various classes in the competitions.

The function was concluded by a much enjoyed picture programme.
