BRITAIN NOT THE RICH UNCLI

The Daily Telegraph, commenting on the Government’s decision to proceed with Singapore, says : Doubtless the question of finance as between the mother Country and the Dominions will he re considered. Britain is not in the position of the rich uncle in the fairy story. It is really very poor and also over-taxed. The expenditure on Singapore, however, is necessary on the broadest Imperial grounds, even if unwelcome.
