The Daily Mail says the real lest, in Egypt, is still to come. It asks whether Die <lovernment's search lor Sir Lee Stack’s murderer was mere make-belief.
"We cannot- expect gratitude from aforgetful people like the .Egypttans," it states, “but we are determined to have their respect, even if it means the dis-bandment-of the Egyptian army and the restoration of martial-law.” The Times’ Cairo correspondent, says : The Governors of all the provinces attended a special conference of Ministers, when the Premier, Ziwar Pasha, who is also’ Minister of the Interior, deliveredl an import a,tit addrejm In Ilium. lie reminded them that they were supreme, under the Ministry of the Interior, in llieir respective provinces. They must administer without any outside inter-, ferenco. The Government looked to them to ensure that no political propaganda was carried out unlawfully. These injunctions obviously refer to the state- of affairs existing under the previous regime, when the administrative oiiicinls were constantly interfered with by Zaghlulist senators deputies who seemed to consider their Parliamentary position gave them authority over otliciail Government representatives, who also were subjected to other outside interference. The new Government’s action should conduce to terminate a condition of things which has become intolerable to both the responsible officials and' the people, and there is hope henceforth that provincial government will follow a, normal regular course, as it did prior to the Zaghlulists’ accession to power.
