(Per Tress Association.' NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. WJille proceeding along Mountain road, near Inglewood, a lorry load of 160 cases .of benzine caught tire from some unexplained cause. It was totally destroyed. Traffic was blocked on the road for a hour or two.

On November 26 a Press Association message, descriptive of a dispute in the Arbitration Court between Mr. Head, secretary of the Wellington Timber Workers’ Union, and .Mr. Turley, secretary of the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Federation, stated that ..when Mr. Read struck at Mr. Turley the latler took cover under a table. Mr. Turley takes exception to this allegation, maintaining that lie did no more than move his bead to a.void the blow. This version has been substantiated by inquiries, and, in justice to Mr. Turley, the correction is made.

Writing from Washington, .Sir Lindo Ferguson, has notified the Otago University Council that he has secured from the College of Physicians. Philadelphia, between 11,000 and 12.CC0 valuable medical volumes, duplicates of the college's magnificent collection for the Otago University Library. The Philadelphia nuthorit’es had no power to donate books, hat offered them at the nominal price of ten cents each, whereas many are valued at ten dollars.
