BOWLING.

PEACE SHIELD TOURNAMENT. The above-mentioned tournament was continued on the CJishorne Bowling Club*s green yesterday, when the fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds were concluded. The weather remained line during the day, and everything went off in a happy manner, there being no hitch to ma; - the pleasure of those participating in the tournament. At the conclusion of the day's play four teams are left in, namely, Newton (last year's winner), who did not suffer a defeat: Home, Sawyer, and Sinclair, with 5 wins and 1 10.-s each. During the day some excellent bowling was witnessed, and in a number of instances the games were very close. Two rinks from the Gisborne and two from the Kahutia, Clubs are thus left to play off in the semifinal, the result of tho draw for same being that Newton meets Sinclair, whilst Sawyer is pitted up against Home. It has not yet been definitely decided when these games will bo played, but probably will be got off in the afternoons of the present week. Following are the results of the games played after we went to press yesterday afternoon :

Fifth round.—Section A : Nasniith 27 v. Miller 13; Hueston 19 v. Home 17.

Sixth round.—Section A : Home 21 v. Miller 17; Newton 24 v. Hueston 17; Nasmith 22 v. Kothwell 15; Allan 22 v. Spiers 20. Section B : Kvrne 23 v. Sidebottom 12; Sinclair 28 v. Sawyer 11; Craig 25 v. Coutts 21; Thelwalf, win bv default by Flavell. Following are the teams left in the semi-final : Eaton, Power, C. Somervell, Newton (skip); Gibbs, Russell, Halford, Home (skip); Atkinson, Pollock, Taylor, Sawyer (skip); Adair, 'l'. F. Crawford, Armstrong, Sinclair (skip). Following is the position of the different rinks at the end of the play. —- A Section: Newton, 6 wins: Home. 5 wins, 1 loss; Nasmith, 4—2: Hueston, 4—2; Allan and Spiers, 2—4; Miller, I—s; Kothwell, 0-6. B Section: Sawyer and Sinclair, s—l: Craig and Kvrne, 4—2; Coutts, 3—3 ; Thelwall, Sidebottom, I—s; 11. Flavell (by default), o—6.
