ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
BURNED IN A HUT. :Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, last night. A fatal fire occurred at Tapanui in tho early hours of this morning, when a. laborer named Con Kelly lost his life. He lived by himself hr a hut, and the tiro must have occurred between midnight and daylight. It was not witnessed by anyone.
LIVES LOST BY DROWNING. (Per Prefd Association.) AUCKLAND, last night, A boy, aged 8 years, named Leslie Grant, was drowned off Point Chevalier beach this afternoon. He was in a punt without oars with three other boys. 'Hie punt capsized. A> party put off in a boat and rescued three hoys, but could find no trace of Grant. The body was subsequently recovered.
WELLINGTON, last night. A fatality occurred at Lyall Bay today. A young mln named Frank Hoihroyd, a tram conductor, aged 21, whose relations are living at Auckland, was drowned. With Malt-by, a companion, Holbroyd went for a swim. When some distance from the shore, both got into difficulties, and Holbroyd disappeared. The body has not been recovered. Maltby had a narrow escape, and reached the shore in an exhausted conditio!!.
