ARBITRATION METHODS.
PROPOSALS IN ENGLAND. Elec- Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.i Australian and N Z rani* Association. LONDON, Jan. 3. The Daily Herald describes the Coalition Laborites' industrial scheme as a pretty plan to chain up unions. It asserts that 90 per cent, of the workers are unaware of the National Democrats' existence.
With a view to improving employment and restoring confidence between buyers and sellers, workers and employers, 1,4 Trade Unionist Commoners belonging to the Unionist, Liberal, National, and Democratic parties, sent a manifesto to Mr. Lloyd George, demanding legislation to _compel participants in any industrial" dispute which injures any section of the public to submit their differences to speciallyappointed industrial committes, functioning like police county high courts, the decisions of which are to be binding on both sides under penalties. The signatories believe the workers will welcome machinery abolishing industrial disputes and protecting trade union leaders against extremists.
