DRIVER OF CAR SHOT DEAD

Later details show that the driver of the car, John Coulthard, was shot dead. Tlie car, with three occupants, turned the corner. There was not time id pull up, when it ran into a box and ladder on the road, pulling up the car. Immediately the car. stopped a man, masked 1 , sprang out of a place resembling a dug-out and. cried "Hands up !" Coulthard endeavored to remove the box from the road. He was struck by a bullet, and! rolled into the gutter, and was dead.

The manager, James, jumped out of the car. He was hit on the thigh and leg, a third 1 bullet, grazing his hand.

Tlie paymaster,.. Hill, . evidently was fired on at short range. When assistance arrived! his clothes were on fire.

Two men approaching on bicycles heard the shooting. They s(iw a man cross the railway line with at bag and take to the bush.
