AT WAIPIRO BAY.

WAIPTRO BAY, this day. Fine weather prevailed to-day, and there were 200 persons present at ths glorious ceremony of unfurling the flaps c>n the new public flag pole. Mr J. R. Turk gave an eloquent address, Mr G. E. I), Hooper acting as interpreter. Ho called: for recruits. He quoted Belgium, and said the same fate would befall England if the enemy were successful. This war was thoroughly justified. They were fighting for; honor, truth, and freedom. He read 1 Mr Asquith's resolution. ' Flags of England, Australia, New .Zealand, Canada, Belgium, Franco, TtalyJ Russia, Japan, Seryia. and Mon.tanegro weie presented by Mr A. M. Beale, and were then unfurled by Mr W. H. Jones, a resident here for 30 years, and Mokina Pahoe, who had been a private under the late Major Ropata. The National A.n.them. was sung, and three cheers given. The. Rev. Mr Wilson, the chairman, m a, stirring speech, seconded the resolution, which was carried unanimously, lender the condnctorahip of Mr Alick Gray, the hymn, "God, Our Help m Ages Past," was -sung. Mr H. I*. Ellis presided at tho organ. Before the meeting dispersed, a collection was taken up for wounded,- soldiers, and £8 was obtained. The pole wa3 erected by Messrs Reed Bros., contractors, Mr A. Gray painting it.
