BATTLE OF SOUCHEZ.
ONE OF THE BIG EVENTS OF THE WAR. QUARTER OF MILLION MEN ENGAGED. FRENCH SCORE GREAT SUCCESS. (London Times and Sydney Sun Services) (Received June 23, 8.30 a.m.) LOXDON, Juno 22. The Times* military correspondent says : — Fighting at fiouchez has been progressing for a month and. reached intensity entitling it to one of the big battles of the war. It extends along a front of six miles. The enemy was forced to concentrate eleven divisions m this space, fighting on both sides. A quarter of a million men are engaged. , The French losses are heavy, but the results more than justify them. The booty exceeds the victory of the Mavne. There were also 10,000 prisoners taken.
