Williamson, Ltd.,' will -.-resent tlie phenomenal |\ successful play "Within the Law.*' The prod hut-ion* should be noteworthy from 'tlie fact that it Will serve to intro-' duce to Gisborne audiences the gifted young 1 actress, Mi^s , Muriel Starr, who had won golden opinions from tho critics m Australia and more recently m ;the Dominion, as- an artist of the front rank. Tho leading Adelaide paper, the Register, says, "Miss Starr's delineation of Alary • Turner, is singularly commanding. -All the way through «he maintained a wonderful, rhythmic flow of emotionalism, always free from those melodramatic outbursts! which by some are supposed to be essential to big situations. .Miss Starr does not break. furniture or send, her voice reverberate ii-yf around the theatre m '• verbal heroics. Yet sho has tho power •to captivate an audience, and J to- make it feel the experience of momentous 4nci* dents m the plot. She {lid that again and again oh Sathrday -night* arid when! the people folt that at last the intensity" must be broken' the- ■ mlence* became clamorous with applause. Miss Starr's art has a sustained, steady glow rather than a spasmodic effulgence of mannerisms ;or cultivated, graces, of sincerity. She does not act the part — she lives it. Spectators are compelled to feel that the picture is adecpjAte and complete." Miss -Starr will h,e supported by a strong cast, ; including three of her compatriots m Miss Alary Worth, Alv Lincoln Plunter, and Mr E. W. Morrison. Miss Worth is said' to be a very clever comedienne,' and Mr Plumer is credited with giving- a convincing picture of* a New York police inspector. Mr Morrison, who is the producer of the play, has also been highly praised for his fine acting as Joe Garson. Air Eric Mason, who is favorably known m New Zealand, is also a member of the company, together, with Alias Sylvia Bremer, Miss Afarjorle " Sop'er.
