The Rev. Prebendary Carlisle, head of the Church Army Prison Gate Work, when going to Buckingham, was stopped ; at tfye' gates by an ex-pickpocket re-, claimed by the society, who asked Pre> bendary Carlisle to show tlie King his post office bank book containing £128. The King heartily commended the work of the Church Army, saying: "I feel the greatest sympathy for those who've made a slip" m life, and now without means or characters, are work — -
