British bluejackets landed with machine guns from the battleship Suffolk, and convoyed them to the Legation m Mexico City m case of am uprising, m the Federal capital endangering Britishers.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 15. Mr Bryan (Secretary for State) has confinried the report that he had notified Germany thafc the United States held the view -tliat nobody outside Mexico could enforce a settlement m Mexico. Mr Bryan refused to discuss - the significance of this statement.
