RURAL BRITAIN.
SOCIALISM AND IMMIGRATION. (Press Assn.— By Telegraph— Copyright.) (Received Feb. 16, 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 15. Mr Jesse Collings has published a! book on colonisation m rural Britain, | m which he asserts that next to the influence of socialism, immigration is the chief factor m changing the face of rural England. He protests against immigration agents' commercialism m luring the soundest and fittest, leaving the unfit. There is, he asserts, plenty of land available m England to create rural colonies on an occupying ownership basis. Tho additional remedy lies m improving the laborers', practical educa-i tion.
The Right Hon. Jesse Ceilings, M.P. for Edgbaston, Birmingham, who is over 82 years of age, has always shown keen sympathy with the rural poor^ of which class he was born.
