The Exhibition band contest was concluded on Saturday. Following are results of the quick step competitions: — A -Grade: * Waihi federal 2684 points 1, Palmorsjtpn North 262J points 2,' 3rd Auclfla-nd, Regimental 262 points 3. The other bands were placed iii the following order — Auckland Garrison 260_t, Kaikorai 256_., Qu/aen Alexandra's Own 251£, South Canterbury 251, Wanganui Garrison 250, Wellington City 249£, St. Kilda 248. Wellington Tramway 244,., Gisborne City 2344. B Grade :' lnvercargill Hibernian 258 points 1, 16th Waikato Regimental 249| points 2, llth Royal Taranaki 248A points 3, The other bands were placed as follows — Onehunu-a 242|, Marton Royal 2394, Whangarei 235J, Wellington ; Waterside • Workers 2214, Napier 218, Hawera' Municipal 2144, Dargaville 214.
Drums Solo Contest : A. E. Price (16th Waikato 'Regiment) 86 points (gold medal) 1, J. Blackwood (2nd South Canterbury Regiment) 85 points (silver modal)* 2. The massed bands wound up tlie afternoon, playing the linperiitor march and the National Anthem.
' Tne aggregates were thereafter computed, with the following results : — Beet-on challenge shield (for the highest aggregate , points m selection and for music m quickstep Competition), formerly held by Waihi, • was won by the .'Second South Canterbury Regimental Band with 313 4-5. The next largest were Auckland Regimental 312 1-5, Wanganui Harrison j 311, Kaikorai 311, St. Kilda 310 2-sth, Wellington City 308 3-5, .Wellington Tramways 307 4-5, Wanganui Alexandra's 307. The Hawke challenge "shield (for the highest aggregate marks, including drill m A grade test selections and quickstep was won by Auckland ite^imsnta! ivith 5555. Tho next highest were the South Canterbury Band 546, Waihi 543 i, Wanganui Garrison 543, Wanganui Alexandra's 540_. Tlie Boosev shield (for the. highest marlSs m both selections for B grade bands) was won by Invercargill Hibernians with 314 -2-5. The next highest were : 'Onehunca 307 4-5, Whangarei 307 3-s.'Jrarton 300 3-5. The conductor /of the Hibernians (Mr Wills) receives a silver-mounted baton from -the Contest Committee^
