Meat.; — Generally, on account of dull trade, holders are accepting a small reduction iit prices, with the result that there is a better demand for muttoi: and lamb. Mutton, ttouth Island, 4|d per lb, ewes 4^d ; lamb, other than Canterbury 6_d per lb. The beef market is steady. New Zealand hindquarters 4J,d, forequarters 4d. Suppliers oi American chilled beef are large with good demand. Hindquarters sd,' forequarters 4_,d. The butter market is quiet. Prices are slightly weaker for New Zealand. For Danish the market is quiet, per cwt. 120s to 123s For New. the market is quiet, 113s to 116 X; for Australian there is a fair demand, 109a to 112s ; Argentine, market quiet, 110s to 112s; Siberian, fair, 110s to 112s. The cneese market is steady, and prices aro Avell maintained, witli a fair demand for New Zealand. The market is firm for Canadian, owing to the short supply. Camadian, white 68s to 70s, colored 70s to 725 ; New Zealand, White 63s to 645, colored 65s to 665.

Hemp. — The Manila .market is easier- fair current, per ton £28; January to March shipments^ £28 sa. The output from Manila for "the week was 230,000 bales. The New Zealand market was' quiet, with a tendency m favor of buyers. The _ Dominion is offering a very small supply. Good to fair £2E 10s, fair £23 ss, January to March shipments, good to fair, £25 15s, fair £23 105,.. .May to July shipments about 5s more. Sisal. — The New York market is firm at last quotations. Tow is m better demand. The nominal value for third grade, per ton, is • £10 15s to £11. Other quotations the same as before. The stock at the end of; January wan 1536 toni. , " . The Wool market remains firm. Good business .has been done both m tops and yarns. Spinners are much better employed.

The hops market is weaker, and the slightly lower price, though there is a full supply, has increasect the buying. English, per cwt., 130s to 160s; America, 90s to 120s.
