LAST NIGHT'S TELEGRAMS.
(Per Press Association.) DARGAVILLE, last night. Tho Horehore estate opposite Dargaville, containing 7000 acres, has been sold by Mr Maurice Harding for £60,000. The property Avill bo forthwith subdivided for closer settlement. TIMARJU; last night. The Timaru branch of the Farmers' Union, after a discussion on the suggested free trade between Australia and N.ew , Zealand, resolved to telegraph to the Premier a protest against the removal of duty on wheat and flour for fear of destroying the wheat growing industry. 'ihe Hon. R. H. Rhodes, PostmasterGeneral,' visited Timaru yesterday to formally start the chimes presented by Mt J. Craigie, M.P., and attached to the new clock in the post- office. Mi Rhodes eulogised -Mr Craigie for his public spirit as a citizen, as displayed in gifts to the town. When shown over the post office, the Minister admitted that it was now too cramped for the business to be done, but owing to the nature of the site, it would be difficult to make additions. •*' AUCKLAND, last night. A church parade of the ship's company of H.M.S. New. Zealand took place at St. Matthew's church this morning. , There were present about 500 bluejackets and Royal Marines, Gapt. Halsey, Commander Grace, and a number of ' othei officers, and also the officers commanding the Auckland military district (Colonel Logan), Foreign Consuls, tlie Mayor, and members of local bodies. The service was conducted by Rev. W. E. Gillam. assisted in the service by Ministers oi the Baptist, Presbyterian, and Wesleyar. ! churches. The church, which seats 1800, was filled to overflowing, many standing throughout the service.
