A writ claiming £1000 for libel has been issued by Andrew Fairbairn, of Fairbairn, Wright and Co., Christchurch, aigainst the Otago Daily Times, for statements contained m three' letters written to the editor some months ago, commenting on the proceedings relating to the Cost of Living Commission. The trial will ta.ke place at Christchurch. Mr Stringer has been retained for the plaintiff, and Mr W. C. MacGregor for the/newspaper.
