STORMY MEETING OF COUNCDL OF WAR.
(Press Assn.— By Telegraph— Copyright.) CETTINJE, May 6. The Council of War meeting which decided to bow to the Powers' will, was a stormy one. When the discussion was at its height, King Nicholas, having conquered his own feelings, entered the • Chamber and confronted the Ministerial tempest. He said: "The supreme interests of the country demand that we should bow our heads before the will of Europe." He pointed out the utter folly of another war. It would add another page to Montenegrin history, but it would be the last page, and he concluded : "I do not wish to close your history thus.*' General Martinovitch made a violent speech, m the course of which he said that after his having successfully stormed the Tarabosch heights he felt justified m levelling the bitterest reproaches at those who had humbled Montenegro. He then tendered the Ministry's resignation. King Nicholas telegraphed to Sir Edward Grey m the following terms : — "Montenegro's attitude m regard to Scutari ia inspired by the eternal principles of justice, sanctified by the hisj tory of conquest. My dignity and that of my people will not allow us to submit to isolated orders, and we therefore place the destiny of Scutari m the hands of the Powers." ' BELGRADE, May 6.
