ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING

The Lord Mayor presided at the nfeeting of non-party citizens at Mansion House, and the meeting was crowded with city - men, while there were also present the Duke of Bedford, Lords Middleton and Lamington, and Mr Lionel Rothschild, and many mayors of boroughs. Admiral Edward Seymour, Sir Johr Hopkins, the Duke of Argyll, Lord Kirinaird and others spoke. The Lord Mayor declared that one of the objects of the meeting was to strengthen the Government's hand and make it known that men of commerce were willing to make pecuniary sacrifices \ to promote the aviation movement. Lord Desborough said he was sure Britishers could privately raise an enormous sum to assist the "Government to provide an efficient aerial fleet.
