An interesting function took place at Nprmanby yesterday, "when the Premier (Hon. T. Mackenzie), m the presence pf a large gathering of veteran military settlers, unveiled a cairn m the Waipi cemetery and. a monument. in Victoria Park, erected to, commemorate the memory of soldiers who. . fell m the Madii war. Addresses appropriate to the occasion were made by Mr Mackenzie, the promoters of tbe movement; and ministers of religion," the keynotSof which was the desirableness of still further cementing together the two traces. Mr Mackenzie assured those present that nothing would be lacking on his part to bring about so desirable a consummation. ••••',
