NORTH ISLAND RAILWAYS.

Particulars of the survey work m connection, with the North Island railway extensions have been prepared by the Minister of Public Works for the .information of the Hamilton 'Chamber of Commerce, .which approached him regarding iho East ■ Coast railway. The Public Works Department's surveyors have, he says, been prospecting for a route for the East Coast line from Paen-ga-roa. via Matatar,, and the whole of the data m corine'dtion, with this route,' will, soon bo available; lit 'the meantime instruction** have'Cbeeri given for ; -a. trial survey from ; : Paengaroa, f yia Okere, to Rotoriia".
