TROOPERS' MEMORIAL
(To the Editor of the. Herald.) j ' Sir, — 1 see by last night's edition of the Herald that at last the troopers' names are to be removed from the Cook memorial, and I would suggest that instead of placing them on the band rotunda, a memorial tablet be placed m ih© churches to which they belong, but only * to thjsc who wero leit behind m .South'. Africa, that is, those who were killed or died from wounds or sickness. • 1 have never seen or heard of such a thing a,» a public memorial or record, or whatever it can be called, of men who have returned from active service. I think the medals' a- man receives for such service is sufficient acknowledgment. — Yours, etc., MEMORIAL.
