Great forest . fires, are sweeping the country m Northern Minnesota and Western Ontario, and property worth millions of dollars has been. destroyed. The towns of Beaudette and Spooner are on fire. , ■'.'.." . The railway rights-of-way are strewn, with the corpses of those who have been trying to escape. Thousands of people are 'homeless, and hundreds have perished. 900 MEN MISSING. ' NEW YORK, August 24. Fifty-six Bodies of victims of the forest fires have been discovered lying near Independence Creek, north of^Murray, Idaho. The Governor of Idaho has ordered out all the available State militia -to -assist the troops m fighting the fires. There are grave fears; as to the 4 ate of -300 men engaged m the' white pine forests m Northern Idaho. Similarly word comes from Thompson,. Montana, that 600 soldiers who left Thompson Falls four days ago to . fight the flames are missing. . , .-. • ',.. . i
