The Band's efforts were well received, and the conductor was warmly congratulated at the conclusion by a few well-known musical people. Now that the evenings are getttine more favorable for open-air concerts, the band intend to perform on one of the rotundas, as the hall hire considerably, eats into the collections made.. * . . About -8 : o'clock last night a fire destroyed a one-roomed whare at Te Hapara, owned by Mr W. Gordon. The place was occupied by a .young man named Robert UpritcKard a driver for Mi; Gordon.
