The Union S.S. Co's Tarawera made a smnrt trip down of about 24 hours from Auckland, having called m at Tokqmarii Bay on the run down. She dropped anchor m the roadstead at 12.45 p.m. yesterday, and proceeded South at . 9 o'clock last evening. Amongst her cargo were transhipments ex Star of Australia, which included 33 large reels of paper for the Herald Office. . \ . The Union S.S. Co.'s Hailroto arrives from Southern ports early on Wednesday morning, and proceeds later for Auckland. The Tuatea leaves the 'wharf at 6 a.m. 'and 10 a.m. The Union S.S. Co.'s collier Wairuna wns to leave Auckland to-day and arrives to-morrow with 700 tons of Newcastle coal. On discharging she proceeds to Napier. The Union S.S. Co.'s Monowai returns from Auckland on Wednesday afternoon and proceeds South during the evening. The Tuatea leaves the wharf on arriyal and at 7 p.m. The Union S.S. Co.'s Haupiri was engaged on Saturday working Wainiro Bay, and is proceeding satisfactorily with her discharging operations -on the coast. She is due m Auckland on Wednesday. , . - The Union S.S. Co.'s Squall, which left Auckland oh Saturday at 1.4 p.m., arrived at Tolaga Bay last evening at 7.50, on discharging a quantity of cargo she sailed this morning at 4.30, and arrived m the roadstead nt 10.50, berthing at the wharf with the tide at 11 o'clock. Good weather was met with On the run down, a light - breeze from the south being experienced to ,the East Cape, and from there on to Gisbotne a light north-east wind prevailed. Her cargo consists of 384 bags of cement, 250 bags of lime, 136 bags of manure, 280 bags of sugar; 20 "bags of salt, 20 sacks of flour, 14 bales of paper, 226 bundles of hoop iron, 58 bundles of 'plain wire, 52 kegs of rivets, 60 cases of whisky, 155 cases of kerosene, 94 cases of bottles, ' 150 cases of dip, quantity of timber, Iron plates, and bar iron, transhipments ex Empire Transport, Cornwall, and Whakarua. Captain J. Morrison is m charge of the Squall this trip m place of Captain J. Beighton, who has been transferred to the Pukaki, Captain Tate of that steamer being on holiday leave. Captain J. Morrison was chief officer on the ■ Island steamer Atua prior to being transferred to the Squall. The Squall is to sail for Auckland direct to-morrow morning at 11 o'clock. The scow Waikonini left the wharf yesterday morning for the Great Barrier, but owing to the wind being light and unsuitable, she dropped anchor m the bay, ajid was .still there this morning. • '■ , The ketch Coronation, which left Gisborne oh:. Saturday afternoon ' for. Mercury Bay,- returned to the roadstead yesterday morning and dropped anchor and' is now awaiting lor a favorable wind. " > r , < The Kaiapoi Shipping Co.'s Kairaki is expectod to arrive at an early date froiu South. The Canterbury Shilling Co.'s Breeze is due at Gisborne about the 20th inst. from South, with a cargo of produce. , rfl > • Messrs Richardson and Co.'s Ruru is to leave Napier this evening, and arrives at Gisborne early to-morrow morning. The Home steamers umially arrive at Gisborne m November, to load the first of the season's clip to catch the January sales. The New Zealand Shipping . Co.'s Kaikoura is due here on November 20, the Tyser Co.'s Indrag. hiri m the same month, whilst the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co. will also have a steamer loading here m November. On Wednesday next, Labor Day, the Union S.S. Co.'s office will be open for the convenience of intending passengers from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 6 to -7 p.m. After a protracted voyage of three' days and nine hours, the Union Company's steamer Squall arrived at 'Auckland from Gisbbrnc on Friday morning at 2.30. 'Leaving Gisborne at 5.30 p.m. on Monday last, a strong easterly wind compelled the vessel to seek" shelter on the south side of the East Cane the following morning. On Wednesday morning the passage was resumed, but again stormy weather was met with, and the vessel ran into shelter near Whale Island. She remained there until five p.m. on Thursday, when the weather moderated, and she. was able to proceed on her voyage. '
