COMMITTED TO TRIAL,

(Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day,

Amy Maud Bock was charged that she did, on or about January 4, 1909, commit forgery by forging the name of John Ray to a receipt for £92 and uttering the same to Arthur Ellis. Accused's solicitor asked that she might be allowed to liave a chair Avith her back to the audience, but Mr Widdowson declined the request. Acdused pleaded guilty, ancl ?aid : "1 would-- like to express my thanks to the police for the kindi way m which they have carried out their duties m this matter, and also to thank Mr and Mrs Ray for the kindness with which I was treated when m service with them."

Chief Detective Herbert said three other cases Avere to be preferred against accused.

His Worship said : "Accused will be committed to the Supreme Court for sen. tence. Tlie question of bail can come up when the other cases are heard."

Accused was then charged with leceiving £41 from Margaret Henderson by means of false pretences, and was remanded till Friday.
