' The weather was flue throughout the colony;, to-day, the highest heat registration being at Gisborne, where the glass wi— three degrees higher than any other place. Kawhia, Tiritiri, and Taurailga came next witli 71. At Cambridge (altit .'de 208 ft) the i*egtstnition was 68. at Taupo (altitude 1209 ft) it was 63. and at Bealey (alt. 2140 ft) it was 64. The'lowest registration was 51 degrees at Dunedin. where the sky was overcast. STATE OF THE SEA. East Cape reported a heavy sea to-day ; there was a >vesterly swell at Gape Maria, heavy swell at Russell- coflusid^.rable swell; on bar at Kaipara, a moderate sea- on Westport bar and at , Cate Egmont, Ciistlepoint, and Greymouth. * All * other stations (including Gisborne and Nanier) reported a smiooth 1 sea*.
