— ♦ (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, last night. The fire brigade demonstration was continued to-day m fine, but warm, weather. There was not a large attendance of the general public. The. progress made was not so good as was expected, and an early start will be made to-morrow m the effort to get through. In the disabled hose competition a protest waa lodged against the Haweia team, which tied with the Maslerton team, but instead, of considering it at once, the event was run off. Hawera men did good work, and won, only then to be disqualified. Disabled hose event, for 5 men : Masterton, Captain Jenkins, Branqhman Jenkins, Brancbman E. Bragging, Lieutenant Ewington, 75 2-ssec, 1 ; Timaru, -Cap. tain Campbell, Foreman Oulleui, Fireman T'jomson, Lieutenant Barclay, 77sec, 2; 'games. Captain G?bbons, Foreman Gar■"Teri, Fireman Bellery, Firemau Alexander, Fireman Willetts, 79 sees (including 9sec penalty), 3 ; Napier, Foreman W. Gilberd Fireman L. Mullaney, E. and S. Gilbe.rd, G. Willis, 79sec, 4; Dunedin City 5. Fourteen other teams competed. Hawera really won this event, but the protest laid was upheld, and the team was disqualified. Thames and Napier tied, and m the run off Thames Avon, and beat all times, doing the work m 741 sec. Ladder race, for one man : S Sherwood (Caversham) 1, G Collett (Waipawa) 2, W. Gilberd (Napier) 3, J. Williams (Dunedin) 4, F. Deere (Greymouth) 5. Manual engine, one man : Timaru (Oaptaiu Caxapbell), 62 4-ssec, 1; ChristchvLroh City (T Burrows), 66 4-sseo, 2; Spit (Moutecino), 71sec, 3; Greymouith (Fitzsimmonds), 72sec, 4. Rangiora (Jor. dan), 72 4-ssec, and Tinaock (Gore) tied for fifth place, but declined to run off. Fourteen others competed. Coupling practice, for two men: This event is incompleted. So ins New Plymouth leads, with Timaru second and Napier third. -A large number have yet to compete. The hose, hydrant, and union competition for five men is. not yet completed, 16 teams having yet to compete.
