The Matawhero saleyards to-day accommodated wlial is certainly the record yarding of sheep they have yet held lliere was a large attendance of buyers. Tht safe .opened very slack, buyers evidently hanging back on account of the heavy yarding, anticipating that prices . woula tall. Dalgety and Company's yarding consisted mainly of old ewes, and "prices were about a shilling easier than at last sales. Shortly after 11.30 the side v nt discontinued, and was resumed again at 1 o doqk. The .sale of cattle was then com meaiced.

The yards of Messrs Williams and Kettle and the New Zealand Loam and Mer. cantile Agency Company' held 25,000 sheep, besides good entries of cattle and pigs. Possibly owing to the great quantity of stock on offer, buyers were rather slack in bidding. The ' poorness of the turnip, crops may also account for the dullness.
