LONDON WOOL SALES.

(Received March 9, 7.50 a.m.) LONDON, March 8. Leading wool firms submitted 11,953 bales, a fairly representative selection. There was a full attendance from allquarters, the sales arousing great interest. Competition was irregular, compared wit hi January closing sales. Merinos were practically unchanged; faulties occasionally 5 per cent, lower ; fine crossbreds about £dl cheaper, medium 5 per cent., and coarse 5 to 7£ per cent, cheaper. An amended list shows that 179,500 bales ore available for the sale.

NAPIER, this day. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company have received the following cable from their London office : "A fall of one-eighth of a penny in the value of second quality lamb and hindquarters of beef. To-day's quotations are: Canterbury mutton 4id, Napier, Wellington and North Island 3|d; lamb, first quality 6d, second S|d ; beef, hinds 3id, fores 2|d."
WELLINGTON, tliis day. The Commerce Department kis received a cablegram from, the- -Agent-General at London, dated the Bth : "There is fair competition at the wool sales, there being plenty of Home and foreign buyers present. Compared with the closing rates of last sales superior merino is unchanged, whilst medium and' inferior merino and fine crossbredis show a faH of £d per lb. Medium and coarse crosrsbreds fell M There are 75,000 bales of New Zealand; wool available for the present sales."
