IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT.

+ — : RETIREMENT OF Mil WYNDHAM. (Press A,-»sn. — By Telegraph. — Copyright.) LONDON, March 7. In the House of Commons, Mr Balfour regretfully announced Mi- Wyndham's resignation of the Secretaryship of Ireland partly on the ground of health, but chiefly on tlit- grounds of Mr Wyndham's belief that the recent controversy greatly impaired, if not wholly destroyed, the 'value of his work. He hoped Mr Wyndlmni would soon be sufficiently recovered to make a statement. Tire announcement was received m Belfast with satisfaction. In Unionist, circles the decision is- declared to be wise, though it is admitted that Mr Wyndham gave the best of Land Acts. Amongst Unionists m London it is believed the retirement will strengthen the Government, the majority of recent division, lists showing that defections were due to the Irish policy.
