DEATH OF MR T. CARROLL.

The remains of the late Mr Tliomas Carroll arrived at Huram-ua on Saturday. A large number of natives were gathered and gave songs, lamentations and other demonstrations of Maori grief. Tlie body is lying m state m a tent on the lawn. Tlie coffin is covered) with rare Maori mats. Hundreds of Europsans and Maoris visited Huramua yesterday to pay their last respects to their old) friend, whose place it will be hard to fill. Tlie funeral tdkes place this afternoon at Hurumua. It is the unanimous wish of the natives throughout, the district that he should be buried near, his mother and brother on the family estate. The Hon. Mr Garroll hopes to leave for Wellington on Wednesday.
