At an annual meeting of the Capetown Chamber of Commerce, the President said that there had been a great increase m the trade with Great Britain and a proportionate decrease m that with foreign countries, especially with Germany. The intercolonial trade had nearly doubled, especially so far as Australasia was concerned. The conclusion of the war would open a new era of development and prosperity, but he anticipated a setback of local trade m the immediate future.
