" Plague has broken out at Tamatave, Madagascar. CAPETOWN, Oct. 14. The South African League has decided to invite the Duke and Duohess of York to call at Capetown en route to Australia, and also urged that a preferential tariff be arranged with Great Britain. A re-union of old colonists to commemorate the arrival in 1842 of the pioneer colonists by the ships Duchess of Argyle, Jane Gifford, Brilliant, and others was held at Auckland on Saturday.
