WAR NOTES.
WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY. ! Writing from the camp at Enslin, the correspondent of the Sydney Telegraph says :— The wireless telegraph gear, operated by tho Royal Engineers, has had bad luck. After a bamboo topmast was broken by Sunday's cyclone, the Engineers made some kites to suspend the apparatus, but, as the wind is not reliable, they got a email balloon. Some messages were exohanged with Modder river this morning, but presently a " willy-willy" spun the balloon round, till, for want of a swivel, the wire snapped, and the balloon ran up some thousands of feet, where it burst, and the tattered remains were found two miles away. This M&rcon: apparatus is said to have been bought by Kruger, who spent £10,000 with the manufacturers. The apparatus was shipped disguised as groceries on board the steamer Goorkha, which also carried Boroe British troops. The Imperial authorities got to know of it, and seized the lot, and this is understood to be some of it that has been erected here for the use of the British against the Boers.
