NEW YEAR GREETINGS.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, to-day. On New Year's Day the Governor, at the request of the Premier, sent the following cable message to the Secretary of State for the Colonies :—" Please to inform Her Majesty that the people of New Zealand are desirous of sending their affectionate personal and heartfelt wishes for a bright and happy New Year." Yesterday His Excellency received the following reply from the Secretary of State: "The Queen commands me to express her thanks to the people of New Zealand, and, further, I am commanded to convey to them her good wishes for the new year."
