NEW SOUTH WALES PARLIAMENT.

Mr Varney Parkes, member for Canterbury, has resigned his seat iv the Assembly. Mr Reid, speaking to the finanoial resolutions, said opportunity would- be given members to propose amendments' to the tariff, but the Government would not bind themselves to accept them. /They were averse to applying the closure* but if necessary would do so. - Sir G. R. Dibbs said the apposition intended to n'gbfc every item and dared the Government to apply the closure. He moved au amendment that the existing duties be continued till 1900.
The debate is still going on
June 5. — The Legislative Assembly is still sitting, and, no progress has been made with the business owing to the obstructive tactics of the Opposition. The Speaker applied the closure to Mr Thomas Rose, member for Argyle, who was making a stonewall speech and had spoken for three hours.
