Press Assooiatloa— Elootrio Telegra ph— Gopyrigh SYDNEY, March 16. Heavy rains caused a flood at Lismore, which is partly inundated, but the water is now receding. A man named Dupont was drowned. The steamer Electra, which went ashore at the Manning river during the heavy gale on the 13th inst., has been floated off. In the Legislative Assembly the military estimates, amounting to £182,000, were reduced by £3000, and then passed. The Paatoralists Union is introducing a new agreement with the shearers, which, it is believed, will be drawn on lines similar to that m operation m Queensland, but more favorable to the men. NEWCASTLE, March 16. Sailed yesterday : Taieri for Wellington. BRISBANE, March 16. The weather has cleared, and the fear of another flood has passed away. Nearly five inches of rain fell m thirty-six hours. MELBOURNE, March 16. The Minister for Agriculture had an interview with a representative of*the P. and O. Company with regard to a reduction of freights on produce. The latter said a reduction might be made if Government entered into a contract for three years.
